Saudi Arabia, along with Arab states, condemned Colombia's opening of an embassy in Jerusalem, labeling it a violation of international law and a threat to peace efforts in the region. The Saudi foreign ministry urged global bodies to counter Israeli policies that change the city’s status, emphasizing the need for an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. This move marks a shift in Colombia's foreign policy under President Abelardo de la Espriella, who has restored diplomatic relations with Israel.
