Egypt's annual inflation rate decreased to 12.7% in August, down from 13% in July, driven by falling food prices despite rising costs in housing and utilities. The Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics reported a static consumer price index, while urban inflation also fell to 14.5% from 14.9%. The Central Bank of Egypt anticipates that inflation will rise in the second half of 2026 due to energy price hikes and currency depreciation.
